Ingredients
2 cups All-Purpose Flour
½ Salt
2tbs Vegetable Oil
¾ to 1 cup Warm Water
Food Coloring
Recipe
Add the flour and salt to a large mixing bowl and stir to combine.
Pour in the vegetable oil and mix lightly with a spoon.
Slowly add warm water while stirring the mixture.
Continue mixing until the dough begins to form.
Knead the dough with your hands for several minutes until smooth.
Add food coloring if desired and knead again until the color spreads evenly.
If the dough feels too sticky, add a small amount of flour. If it feels too dry, add a few drops of water.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
Adding Too Much Water: Too much water can make the dough sticky and difficult to handle. Add water slowly while mixing.
Not Kneading Enough: Kneading helps the dough become smooth and flexible. Spend a few minutes kneading for the best texture.
Using Too Little Salt: Salt helps preserve the dough and improve its structure. Always use the correct amount.
Storing Dough Without a Lid: Leaving playdough exposed to air causes it to dry out quickly. Always store it in a sealed container.
Adding Too Much Food Coloring: Too much coloring can stain hands or surfaces. Start with a few drops and add more if needed.
